Upper Blade Holder Bracket Conversion Kit

Product Description

Conversion Kit for any Hawk saw with a bracket to be able to use the newest upper blade holder. This conversion kit allows you to replace the upper blade holder without ever worrying about damaging the upper arm of your saw. This kit includes:

1 Top Blade Holder Bracket Assembly (#705-0153)

1 Front Cam (#715-2154)

1 Front Cam Handle (#715-2168)

1 Upper Ultra Blade Holder (#615-1182A).

This replaces the Upper Ultra Blade Holder #615-1182 where you have to push a pin out of the arm that holds the blade holder in place, then push another pin in with the replacement blade holder. The Bracket Assembly fits into place with a pin where the old pin would hold your blade holder. It then never needs to come out unless you need to replace the front cam.

The Upper Ultra Blade Holder #615-1182A has the pin pre-installed and clips into place in the bracket.

Upper blade holders conversion kit

The blade holder was easy to install once I got the old one off. To avoid any damage to the upper arm I removed it to get the old pin out. A small nail with the tip blunted worked perfect for removing the pin.

Installation was easy. Only problem was the nylon Allen screw was easily destroyed by the Allen wrench. I found a good replacement and have shared the information with Bushton.

My Hawk saw wore out the cam on the upper blade holder, I ordered the upgraded unit and it works great now!

The old one was really hard to get out. Had to take the arm off to get the roll pin out and had to buy a tool to take it out since that was one we didn't have (unbelievably!). Once we got it replaced and everything back together it works great. Hope it lasts as long as the original did (about 20 years) before I have to replace it again. But at least I'm back to cutting again and didn't have to replace the machine which I would hate to do.

Make sure you install the cam barrel per the fuzzy instruction picture. The instructions are marginal, and the machining on the aluminum parts is marginal.

I thought the instructions were good. The upper arm blade holder was fairly easy to replace. Getting the pin out and in that holds the part in place was the most difficult to deal with. Not that impressed with the new blade holder. Too accustomed to the older style. I do understand the new design, just partial to original.

The part came with only a small delay while waiting for fulfillment. The instructions were clear making installation straightforward. The upgrade will make future changing of the upper blade holder easy on my old Hawk 226VS.

This part perfectly replaced the older (worn out) style upper blade holder on my Hawk 220 VS Scroll saw
